Sarah Quita: from Aruba to the world with Windsurf Freestyle

The Windsurf World Tour takes place every year in the Freestyle modality through the PWA. The queen of said sport is currently Aruban Sarah-Quita Offringa, whom recently conquered her 10th world title. This time winning the contest in the Sotavento waters, south of Fuerteventura, Spain.

At 26 years old she is the world champion of Freestyle for the 10th year in a row. With this victory at the Atlantic sea, the only stop this year in the female circuit. In an interview for a daily local news outlet at Fuerteventura, Sarah Quita said that the other athletes were “very strong and had prepared themselves a lot for this competition, but I have also trained intensely in order to revalidate my title”.

This windsurfer has gone around the Word with her sail and her board, representing her country of birth, Aruba. On this Caribbean island Sarah-Quita trains in the Fiherman’s Huts and Boca Grandi beaches.

At the stage, Maaike Huvermann was second in place representing Holland and for Norway, Oda Johanne Stokstad managed to get third place.
