Kiteboarding at Fuerteventura Risco del Paso

Getting to know places through Kiteboarding has always fascinated me. I spent a lot of months practicing at El Yaque Beach in order to achieve my goal of releasing my comet and sail unknown waters. The first result was to enjoy the waters of the Atlantic at Fuerteventura.

This is one of the islands of the Canaries in Spain. Here, thanks to an invitation from my Venezuelan friend “Gabriela Carmine” and her Polish boyfriend “Piotrek Majcher“, I was able to enjoy the “Risco del Paso” spot. At this coast of Sotavento I encountered and off-shore sea with a lot of sand space thanks to the dunes at the place.

The water this summer is cold but not as cold as I thought it could be. This place, at the south of Fuerteventura, is very well-known because the Windsurfing World Cup takes place here since almost 32 years, through the PWA. This yearGollito Estredo, representing Venezuela, was the winner and in the female categorySarah Quita Offringa, from Aruba, took the first prize.

So it is a beach that has a lot of magical due to its history and trajectory, receiving plenty of wind lovers in diverse modalities.

I sailed every day with a number 9 comet, sometimes, I would go a bit fat but since it is a raging sea, I would play a bit with de power and enjoyed a lot my stay in the ocean.

In the present video I visited a lagoon that forms some days, depending on the tide. Some days I saw windsurfers doing a bit of Freestyle and other days the kite surfers were the ones that would take ownership of this salty lagoon in order to enjoy a totally flat and more heated water. Being lower it was also warmer.

If you come to Fuerteventura to sail, remember to always check the moon and the times of highest tide so that you have more knowledge about the weather conditions in this beautiful earthly paradise.

Aloha!
