Diving and happiness with operator El Bajón at El Hierro

El Hierro is a destination with a crowd filled with diving fans. It is an island internationally known through this sport and the most transited place is “La Restinga”. This destinations is located south of the island, where different operators offer courses and immersions in this crystalline Atlantic sea.

Diving is always fascinating, being able to breath underwater and observing so many species and marine fauna makes every minute count. However, it would also be correct to say that the school makes the difference at the moment of considering the entire experience.

For this reason I will start talking about the Centro de Buceo El Bajón. It is led by “William Landaeta”, a Venezuelan that came to El Hierro (where part of his roots are) more than 25 years ago. Here, he has created various businesses with his family. The most recent one is the Centro de Buceo El Bajón, where I was able to enjoy with all of them.

It is located one block from the beach and it is tended to by the entire family. Mainly Joseba, the eldest child of William, whom recently came back from Tenerife, with diverse studies related with seamanship, in order to take charge of the Centro de Buceo El Bajón.

Despite being new in the diving market, they have gotten plenty of clients because they differentiate themselves from the rest. The secret is in the joy and enthusiasm with which they word every day. They put music at the store and on the boat, they serve pizza to all the divers and guests and they make everyone fill like a family.

I was able to make two immersions with them. On the first day I went with two girls to their “Baptism” or as we call it in Venezuela, a “Discovery”. It was very beautiful living with them their first experience with a diving team under the sea. This experience was with Jesús Yeray and Abigail, whom are also the distributers of “Cressi”, the official brand of the Centro de Buceo El Bajón offering the divers the newest and best Italian equipment of the market.

After getting to know the spot at the port, we went to the well-known diving spot “Baja Boquerones” the next day. This time I went with William, Joseba, Gina and, again, with Abi and Yeray.

It was a beautiful immersion around a “roque” filled with incredible fish and coral. I was lucky enough to see a big grouper, of approximately 20 kilograms. And even though we were not able to see them this time, sometimes there are devil stingrays dancing with the divers. Other times, you can see big calamari and beautiful shoals from diverse species.

After diving we went back to the ship and ate pizza with good music.

I really liked the entire experience and was left wanting to know a lot of spots of this precious island.

Thanks a lot for the support to the Landaeta family and the Centro de Buceo EL Bajón!
